Mahlon Stewart knows the importance of heritage, coming from a long line of Jamaican singers including father Roman Stewart and uncle Tinga Stewart. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Jamaica enabled Mahlon to capture reggae, soul, R&B and dancehall trends and styles as they emerged from their respective communities. He has taken that knowledge and created a dynamic musical bridge between R&B and Reggae on his Reggae Vibes Productions Inc (PRG Records) debut album "From Now On"
In 1989, while living in St. Anns, Jamaica during hurricane Gilbert, Mahlon had an epiphany that he was finally ready to reach for his musical dream. Upon returning to the United States, he began performing his unique brand of music throughout the country, sharing the stage with such renown artist as Frankie Paul, Little John, Dennis Brown, Johnny Osbourne, Garnet Silk, Beenie Man, Barrington Levy and John Holt. It was at this time that people began to notice Mahlon's signature sound which blended the urban with the tropical.
Mahlon was eventually approached by Columbia Records and began to work with Grammy nominated producer Shaun Faber. This collaboration resulted in the singles, "She's Got It" and "Erica" both of which did well in the United Kingdom and Japan. He has also collaborated with Japanese artist Teddy Bear and dancehall artist such as: Cecile, Tony Curtis, Harry Todler and Nico.
President of Reggae Vibes Productions, Michael "Jah Mikes" Coburn, noticed Mahlon and began to nurture and strengthen his natural talent. The collaboration was so successful, that Mahlon turned down a lucrative recording contract to sign with Reggae Vibes Productions Inc. The result is an album full of groundbreaking rhythms and innovative arrangements, considered rare in the current music scene.
Mahlon's latest release titled "From Now On" and his smashing duet with Ce'Cile titled "Love is Like" on the Focus Rhythm Compilation Cd is receiving rave reviews. You can also request them on your local radio stations.
