A shoemaker by trade, a devout Rastafarian endowed with humility and the gift of music, he crafted songs such as "Graveyard In Africa" and while waiting for the opportunity to see the community embracing his musical messages, time and time again disappointment took its place. Other known artistes covered his songs. These obstacles were not viewed as a deterrent; instead Truman used them as a source of inspiration and not only penned the classics, What's Going On, The Day Is Not Over & Hardcore but also recorded these tracks.

Born in the parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica, the fourth of fifteen children, Michael Truman Chewstick pka Truman Chewstick spent most of his early childhood with his grandfather, a high priest of the Coptic faith. During this time he was taught about the essence of love and brotherhood. The lessons learned are evidenced in the delivery and lyrical content of his songs. Heartfelt messages illustrating a deep rooted love for humanity over hard driving indigenous reggae rhythms will ultimately have a profound impact in the lives of many people all over the world.

Truman's musical career began as an MC alongside Shabba Ranks for Roots Melody Sound System. His performances were not only limited to community concerts, he also performed on some major shows including Hurricane Gilbert 88, Welcome Home Ninja at National Arena 91, Selassie I Centenary Show 93, Ghetto Bash 94. He also won a talent show that earned him a performance on Sun Splash 94.

As an original member of the Ghetto Youths Crew, he toured the USA in 1998 & 1999 performing in 50 States alongside Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. Note worthy performances included concerts in New Mexico and Hollywood. Both received exceptional reviews in the local newspapers. He has also performed as the opening act for Grammy winning artist, Junior Gong son of the late Reggae icon, Bob Marley.

With the launching of his debut album, "The Day Is Not Over' due for release in Spring 2005, Reggae music purists will again experience roots reggae like it was during that cultural revolution of the past. Album includes, Graveyard In Africa, Jah Miracle, Mama, The Day Is Not Over, Pharoah, Hardcore and others. Truman Chewstick time has come.
